Sabastious, thankyou for your explanation. It actually makes a lot more sense than the Wts interpretation. Sorry it took so long to reply. I appreciate your time for answering my question. Leslie

Who is Babylon the Great?
by sabastious inhello jwn, my last thread revealed the identity of the beast out of the earth referenced in revelation chapter 13 veses 11-18. this post will deal with the beast out of the sea who is being ridden by a prostitute called babylon the great.. first, we must identify the beast the prositute is riding.
this can be found in revelation chapter 17:.
one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and said to me, come, i will show you the punishment of the great prostitute, who sits by many waters.2 with her the kings of the earth committed adultery, and the inhabitants of the earth were intoxicated with the wine of her adulteries.. 3 then the angel carried me away in the spirit into a wilderness.

Jw;s like family
by d ini was wondering do you ever miss certain jw's?
i mean not all but just some, becuase even though we may rant and rave against jw's at times.
we have to remeber that for those that were born in the jw's theywere like family.which is why it is so hard at for me to let go completely.. although i have been out for about 5 yrs and it feels good.

(((D))), I also was a born-in and was in for 48 yrs as such. I can honestly say that I don't miss any of them as they have thrown me under the bus when I was Df'd. I have found it helpful to just get out there and make new friends who will accept you for 'who' you are as an individual and not 'what' you are ie: a JW. It helps to remember that these are/were conditional friends only.
I wish you well in your healing process, as it truly is a process that takes time.Leslie

I had been out 6 yrs and one day I typed ex JW into Google and found Randy's site at Freeminds and it linked here. I felt guilty and was terrified a lightning bolt with my name on it was waiting for me next time I went outside. It took 2 yrs of lurking to finally get the courage to join and tell my story. -Leslie

(Geez Moshe, I wonder why they ran away lol) I feel pity for them. What a waste of time. If all those hours were put into real community service they could do a lot of tangible good.

Yesterday Grandpa died a faithful JW.... or was he.
by cyberjesus inyesterday at 3 am my grandfather.. 95 more or less... passed away after a heart attack... i got the call at 8 am.
so i am the oldest grandson (out of 40) he was faithful, (thats what they want to say) reality is he wasnt, he cursed, he drank, he had plenty of women during his life.. he was an elder at some point and he was ultra good with everyone.
he had a heart of gold... he treated me as his son, he never cared about my status.

Deepest Sympathy on the loss of your Grandpa. It is so good that you always made a point of expressing your love to him. He obviously had a positive impact on your life. Perhaps later you can share some of your memories with us. sincerely, Leslie

Templelijah: I have a question for you. (this is a sincere question and not an attack on what you said)
By receiving Christ and living the proper way, is the message of interpretation of the meaning of Revelation something that is a personal revelation to us and may it differ from others who are also acceptable to the Lord. Are we to have one interpretation or will we be given insight based on what we personally need as determined by Christ? Your thoughts appreciated. Leslie

Hello D, I have been out since 2004 and have these dreams also. The dreams usually are about my adult children. It's funny you should bring this topic up because I had one of those dreams last night about a couple who were best friends with my ex and myself. It's always the same, I am trying to show them the fallacies of Wt. teaching using their own literature but they just won't listen. I wake up frustrated. Leslie

Does "Spiritism" Offer Hope?
by metatron inwhen you are a jw, you are given a view of spiritism that is like a jack chick tract but without the unintended humor.. when i began to read channeled "information", i was surprized by how positive, optimistic and often loving it seemed to be.
naive?
yes.... often silly?

Metatron, interesting topic. (lol@ Jack Chick tracts, saw some and he's a real piece of work)
Spiritism likely offers a hope much like Christianity as the practicer believes in something other than the physical world. With Christians most believe in an afterlife with Christ whereas many spiritists believe in ascending to a different plane of existence once the physical body dies. I have spoken to Wiccans and also two of my best friends are into Shamanism. Both groups tend to follow the creed of doing no harm to others and have a definite connection with their physical surroundings and also a strong belief in the spirit world. My friends believe in the higher power or force if you will and try to live in harmony with that.
I agree Satanus that mind tries to shut down this awareness. My very best friend and I have a connection of some sort. I can be at home and will drop everything because I know she needs me to come help her. When I arrive at her place she always tells me that she was asking for me to come. It is weird, I can't explain it but it has happened too many times to be a co-incidence. Whether this is Christ/holy spirit directing me to her or the collective consciousness, is up to interpretation. I do believe we are all connected in some higher way that is just not understood at this time.
Contrary to WT belief, the people I know are very peaceful and definitely not the evil stereotype that is used to portray them. (I hope I did not miss the point you were trying to make) Leslie

It has never made sense to me why prophecies that were supposed to be so important to salvation would be written in such a way that interpretation would not be crystal clear. Sabastious and Finkelstein have both given very differing interpretations of the meaning of the symbolic figures represented in Revelation. This was actually something that got me thinking years ago. I had picked up the magazine "The Plain Truth" and I believe it was a discussion of the book of Daniel. They used other scripture to back up their ideas and it made as much sense as a Wt. interpretation.
Is it possible Sab, that the book of Revelation is not a prophecy at all but a book written by a very old man who may been under the influence of some herb of some kind. I mean this with no disrespect. When compared to the simple message of Christs teachings this is so out there. Why would a message of this importance be so cryptic and able to be interpreted so many ways that no clear message can be seen. If the message has no distinct 'ring' then it is sounded in vain. just my .02 cents -Leslie (thx for this topic)
